The company uses sophisticated ATS (Applicant Tracking System) ensuring that in today’s fast paced world the recruitment process is more efficient as well as ensuring all candidates are regularly and professionally communicated with. Having a centralized database acts in a way that serves the entire maritime industry ensuring that new talent is accessible to all maritime hiring companies in southern Africa. The hiring process doesn’t start when there is a vacancy in the organization, it starts long before the vacancy opens and it is EQ8 Recruit’s mission to continually build a database for the industry’s ongoing talent acquisition requirements and for this, keeping a candidate database is crucial.

Planning means anticipating talent that is needed now as well as talent that is needed in the future and the Graduates of today will be the leaders in our industry in the future. An astute recruiter should always be on the lookout for changes in the industry, their effects on the workforce and where to source the right talent and recruiters should be planning ahead so they can match the requirements of the industry with the human capital in the organization.

Operation Phakisa is an initiative of the South African government and this initiative was designed to address issues highlighted in the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 such as poverty, unemployment and inequality and as such Operation Phakisa is an innovative and pioneering approach to translate detailed plans into concrete results through dedicated delivery and collaboration. “Phakisa” means “hurry up” in Sesotho and the application of this methodology highlights the government's urgency to deliver.

EQ8 Recruit’s mission is to dovetail Operation Phakisa and lead with solutions in streamlining talent acquisition strategies for the maritime industry ensuring there is a central and focused database where EQ8 Recruit aims to offer access to much needed skills to shape the future of South Africa’s maritime industry better, faster and more effectively.
